Healthcare, health care, or medical care is the management or improvement of health through the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, or healing of physical disability, illness, accident, and illness in humans. Healthcare is often provided by trained health specialists.
As we all know, healthcare services are delivered through the primary healthcare provider (or PCP), who may be a doctor, nurse, physician's assistant, pharmacist, chiropractor, podiatrist, physical therapist, chiropractic physician, home health care agency, rehabilitation specialist, physical therapy, or any other healthcare provider. In addition, there are several other health care professionals who provide health care in some specific areas such as infectious disease treatment centers, mental health services, home health agencies, home health care workers, hospice, geriatrics, mental health services, rehabilitation services, and other allied healthcare fields. In addition, there are many other individuals who provide health care on their own. The primary health care provider, (PCP) has direct access to the patients. Healthcare systems are defined as the collection, analysis, interpretation, implementation, evaluation, planning, finance, administration, support and maintenance of healthcare services in a health care setting. There are three main types of healthcare systems that are commonly found in developed countries: private, public, and non-profit. Each of these three systems provides various services and each one has its own specific set of services. Private healthcare systems offer services at a price that is lower than in a public system. For example, in an emergency room, there are two healthcare system options; first is a public hospital or a private hospital; second option is private healthcare. Although the government has provided healthcare for the general population in most developed countries, the government system usually does not provide healthcare services to the very poor. Government provides these services through social welfare programs such as social security schemes, Medicaid programs, welfare schemes, government medical assistance schemes, and health care worker schemes. Non-profit hospitals and health care facilities are available to the poor to provide primary healthcare. Healthcare is a complex and dynamic subject that require comprehensive research and analysis before developing a healthcare system. Healthcare services are designed with a purpose of providing relief from health-related problems in all its different forms. These include improving the quality of life, reducing the economic burden of healthcare by reducing the number of patients who have to undergo treatment and increase productivity, and efficiency of healthcare personnel, reducing the number of days that the healthcare institution spends on patient visits, and providing quality patient care, and increasing the likelihood of the patient staying longer in the institution to ensure a better quality of life. The cost of healthcare systems is also determined by various factors such as population size, demand, type of care needed, the number of facilities required, and the number of services required. It is important to know and understand the cost of healthcare services prior to establishing a healthcare system. This is because the cost of healthcare depends on the number of services, how long you want to run the facility and what facilities are available at that location. Most governments have set healthcare budgets that cover the operating expenses of all healthcare facilities. But there are still many government-run hospitals and clinics that operate in free-standing form. Free-standing and subsidized hospitals and clinics may be established on public land or in subsidized housing. Other free-standing and subsidized clinics may have small attached private clinics or nursing homes. Private hospitals and clinics generally charge different rates. Some privately run private hospitals and clinics charge more compared to government-run hospitals and clinics. Patients may choose a private clinic if they have less money to pay for healthcare services.
